Byodoin Today (https://byodoin-temple.com, “the Site”) is an unofficial visitor guide operated by CofJC Inc. (“we”, “us”). It is not affiliated with Byodoin Temple. This policy explains what information we collect when you use the Site, how we use it, and the choices you have.

Information you send us
If you use our contact form, we receive your name, your email address and the content of your message. We use this only to reply to you.
Visit statistics
We use Cloudflare Web Analytics to understand how many people visit the Site and which pages they view. It does not use cookies, does not track you across other websites, and does not collect personal information that identifies you.
Server and security logs
Our hosting provider, Cloudflare, processes technical information such as IP addresses to deliver the Site and protect it from abuse. Our contact form uses Cloudflare Turnstile to check that a real person is sending the message.
3. Third-party content and links
Weather data
Weather on the Site comes from the Japan Meteorological Agency. Our own server fetches it and passes it to your browser, so your browser does not connect to the Agency and no information about you is sent to it.
Map
The walking map on the Site is a picture we drew ourselves from OpenStreetMap data. It is part of our own page, so showing it sends no information about you to anyone else.

Bag2Gate
The Site links to Bag2Gate (https://bag2gate.com), a luggage storage and delivery service. Bag2Gate is our own service. Information you enter on that site is handled under its own privacy policy.
Other links
The Site also links to other websites, such as the official Byodoin website, railway companies, the Japan Tourism Agency and our sister sites. We are not responsible for how those websites handle your information.
4. How we use your information
We use the information above only to:
- reply to your messages
- understand how the Site is used and improve it
- keep the Site secure
We do not sell your personal information.
5. Legal basis
If you are in the European Economic Area or the United Kingdom, we rely on the following legal bases:
- replying to your messages: to take the steps you asked for, and our legitimate interest in answering you
- visit statistics and keeping the Site secure: our legitimate interest in running a reliable, secure Site

We are based in Japan. Our hosting provider, Cloudflare, may process the information above on servers outside Japan and outside your country, including in the United States. Messages from our contact form are delivered to us in Japan.
7. How long we keep it
We keep contact form messages for as long as needed to respond to you and handle any follow-up, and no longer than 2 years.
8. Your rights
You may ask us to show, correct or delete the personal information we hold about you. If you are in the European Economic Area or the United Kingdom, you also have rights under the GDPR, including the right to object to processing and to complain to your local data protection authority. 9. About our forecasts and weather
Crowd levels, waiting times and sell-out times on the Site are our own forecasts based on the time, day, season, the temple’s published waiting-time estimates and the weather forecast. They are not official information from Byodoin Temple and not guarantees. Weather data is provided by the Japan Meteorological Agency.

We may update this policy. The date at the top shows when it was last changed.
